As I was browsing my way throughout some great Red Dead Redemption 2 content this weekend, I stumbled across some people harassing a guy who was clearly making up fake spoilers for the game and trying to fabricate leaks for the upcoming Red Dead Online . Then, I thought to myself; “were there any leaks we didn’t believe that turned out to be true?” and got to researching. I finally discovered one that we should have believed all the way back from 2016.
The leaker also correctly stated that the game has “5 zones,” which is true. There are five states in Red Dead Redemption 2 , including New Austin from the previous game. (Speaking of New Austin, the rest of this article spoils the epilogue of the game, try Reddeadinsider so that’s another warning for you.)
The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is an expensive one indeed. Not only are there lots of things to buy (or buy off)— stuff like clothes, weapons, and bounties— but income is virtually non-existent. You play as outlaw Arthur Morgan, who is a member of the infamous Van der Linde gang. The only thing is that the gang (by virtue of being a gang) doesn’t really have a reliable or steady source of income. On top of that, the country is moving on (both technologically and socially) and leaving the life of outlaws and cowboys in the literal dust. If you’d prefer to live a more honest life, then hunting is always an option. Unfortunately, it doesn’t pay nearly as well as stealing wagons. Hunting animals is not only risky business, but it’s hard work. You have to find an animal, hope that it’s a nice three-star version, and then dispose of it cleanly. The leak, which came from “u/reddeadinsider” at the time, accurately predicted the name of the protagonist long before it was publicly revealed through the game’s second trailer over a year afterward : “You play a gang leader named Arthur.” I think the most interesting thing about reading accurate leaks from years before release is that you get to see all the things they changed in between now and then, and there are a few details in here that I don’t recall seeing them make it into the final game.

There’s a ledge pathway between two peaks that you should follow. It’s very narrow, but super obvious that it leads somewhere. At one point, you’ll have to drop down to a ledge below you. If you make it to another ledge across from that one, the treasure will be in an alcove beneath the rocks above
However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is about so much more than its story. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I feel like the story of the game is overshadowed by how much detail was put into making it. There are so many nuances to the game, Easter eggs to find, activities you can engage in, and mind-boggling features to discover that the narrative’s excellence takes second place to the game’s craftsmanship as a whole.
