Botox Treatment Target Areas and Why Technique Matters

Refresh Your Look Safely in Time for Spring

can be a simple way to soften lines and look more rested, without changing who you are. As the weather brightens and plans for weddings, garden parties and holidays start to appear in the diary, many of our patients start thinking about a gentle refresh.

Botox treatment is a prescription medicine based on tiny doses of botulinum toxin. When used by medical professionals, it can relax specific facial muscles so lines look softer, while the rest of the face can still move. Our focus at estetica in Chertsey and Windsor is on natural, subtle changes that make you look like yourself on a good day, not a different person.

In this article, we explain how Botox treatment works, which areas it can safely target, and why the injector’s skill and technique matter so much for your comfort, safety and final result.

How Botox Treatment Works Beneath the Skin

Botox works by blocking signals between nerves and muscles in very spots. When a small amount is injected into a chosen muscle, that muscle relaxes over the following days. This softens the overlying lines that appear when you frown, squint or raise your brows.

It is important to know what Botox treatment can and cannot do. It is especially good for dynamic wrinkles, which are lines caused by movement, such as:

Frown lines between the brows

Forehead lines from lifting the eyebrows

Crow’s feet from smiling or squinting

It is less effective for very deep folds, significant sagging, or areas where the main is volume loss or skin texture. In those cases, Botox treatment is often just one part of a broader plan that might include skin treatments, fillers or medical skincare.

Safe, natural results depend on:

Careful dosing, so muscles relax but are not overtreated

The right dilution and injection depth for each area

Precise placement, based on how your own muscles work

This is why our medically trained clinicians at estetica take time to assess muscle strength, facial symmetry and how your face moves when you talk, smile and rest, before deciding whether Botox treatment is right for you.

Upper Face: Forehead, Frown Lines and Crow’s Feet

Horizontal lines and the deep “11” lines the brows are some of the most common concerns our patients mention. These can make a face look stressed, annoyed or tired, even on a good day. Softening these areas often gives a calmer, more open .

The upper face has key muscles that lift and pull, such as the frontalis in the forehead and the group of in the glabella between the eyebrows. If these are not mapped out properly before treatment, problems can include:

Heavy or “dropped” brows

An over-smooth, shiny forehead that does not move

Uneven or “spocked” brows that peak too sharply

At estetica, we aim to:

Leave some natural movement so you can still raise your brows

Respect your natural brow position and eye shape

Adjust for any existing asymmetry between the two sides

Crow’s feet around the outside of the eyes can also be to make the eye area look fresher. The skin here is thin and delicate, so light, carefully spaced injections are needed. Too much product or poor can lead to a flat, odd-looking smile or even cause changes in the way the eyelids sit. Our skilled injectors use minimal doses and a gentle approach so your eyes still smile with you.

Mid and Lower Face: Nose, Mouth, Chin and Jawline

Using Botox treatment in the mid and lower face can bring subtle but powerful refinements. Common concerns we see include:

Bunny lines, the little wrinkles that appear on the nose when you smile or scrunch

A gummy smile, where a lot of upper gum shows when you grin

Downturned mouth that give a sad or grumpy look

A “pebble” or “orange peel” chin with dimples when you speak

Strong jaw muscles that make the lower face look wide or square

The lower face is more technically complex because many of these muscles are deeply involved in chewing, speaking and everyday expression. Poor technique can affect how you smile, chew or pronounce words.

Our experienced clinicians pay close attention to:

Dose, using very small amounts in highly active or functional muscles

Injection depth, so we reach the right part of the muscle without affecting nearby areas

Balance, so one area is not weakened more than another

Used well, Botox in the lower face can lift the corners of the mouth slightly, soften tension in the chin, and gently narrow a very strong jawline. Our goal is to refine, not freeze, and to keep the overall profile in harmony with your natural .

Neck, Jawline and Why Technique Matters More Than Product

The neck and jawline often show early signs of ageing, such as vertical platysmal bands, mild jowling and horizontal “tech neck” lines. Carefully placed Botox treatment can relax the bands, which can make the neck look smoother and give a subtle lifting effect at the jaw.

A popular technique in this area is sometimes called the Nefertiti lift. Small injections along the jawline and into the vertical neck bands help reduce downward pull on the lower face. This can:

Softly define the jawline

Improve the appearance of neck bands

Support a more streamlined profile from chin to neck

Because the platysma muscle also plays a role in moving the neck and lower face, precision is very important. Too much product or poor placement can cause weakness or discomfort when chewing or speaking. This is why we often combine light neck Botox treatment with treatments that improve skin quality, such as medical facials or skin boosters, rather than relying on Botox alone.

Many brands of botulinum toxin exist, and they all work in a similar way. Good results depend far more on the injector’s:

Medical background and understanding of anatomy

Eye for balance and proportion

Willingness to start conservatively and build over time

At estetica, we always carry out a full facial assessment both at rest and in motion. Photographs can help track changes. We review your medical history, medicines and lifestyle, realistic goals, and plan doses that can be adjusted at a follow-up visit. This careful, step-by-step approach supports natural, safe outcomes.

Safety, Aftercare and Planning Your Next Steps

Botox treatment usually has minimal downtime, but it is still a medical procedure. Mild redness, tiny bumps or light bruising around injection sites can occur and usually settle quickly. Many of our patients feel returning to normal daily tasks straight away, although we advise avoiding heavy exercise, heat and rubbing the treated areas for a short period after treatment.

If you are planning treatments around spring events or holidays, it helps to:

Allow time for results to develop, as changes appear gradually over several days

Give yourself a buffer in case of mild bruising

Arrange any review appointment before important occasions

Safety starts with choosing qualified medical professionals and a regulated clinic setting. It is always worth asking:

Who is performing the injections and what their qualifications are

Which specific product is being used

What to expect afterwards and who to contact if you are worried

At estetica in Chertsey and Windsor, we support our patients with clear aftercare guidance, written information, and reviews where needed. Our approach to Botox treatment is conservative and long-term, aiming to keep movement natural and respect the character of your face, while gently softening the problem areas that bother you most.
