Arizona State took home top notch gaming systems for their runner-up finish. Heroes of the Storm may still be in beta until June, but its appearance on national television last night got the eSports scene some of the best mainstream exposure its had
_ Heroes _ may have a much smaller roster, but the developers clearly care more about making each one of them viable with the number of patches they release. Of the 64 heroes available, 43 have a pick rate higher than 10% in competitive games – that’s fully two-thirds of the hero roster, and way more than can be found in _ League of Legends
Randomly pointing at various options and hoping for the best, I pushed through the confusion and found myself taking control of Leeds, a team that I didn’t know much about. Again, the list of options was incredibly daunting. Who do I choose to make up my team? How do I train them? In which position should I have them play? I just wanted to get into a match and watch my team play, how on Earth was I supposed to know the rest of this st
While Blizzard (the makers of _ Warcraft III _ ) had their hand in giving birth to MOBAs as a genre, they’ve been strangely behind the times while MOBAs took the E-sports world by storm. It wasn’t until 2015, with the release of _ Heroes of the Storm _ ( _ HotS _ for short), that Blizzard took these multiplayer battle arenas seriously enough to warrant a game of their own. And while _ League of Legends _ (or _ LoL _ for short) is still top dog, it has a lot to learn from Blizzard’s upstart M
I feel that way with for all four of these teams. It’ll be heartbreaking to see three teams not win but I’ll be happy to see one of them actually become heroes of the dorm. It’s very easy to find protagonists in this tournam
**The Flash ** crossover continues on Arrow with “Legends of Yesterday”, with regular programming returning next Tuesday @8pm with “Running to Stand Still”. Watch a preview of the crossover’s conclusion be
Starting Championship Manager 70s Legends is an incredibly daunting prospect. Clearly identifying its PC gaming heritage, it’s a game filled with menus, stats and far, far too many options. If you’re unfamiliar with the moba game Beginner guide’s setup, it can make you think: ‘Oh man, what on Earth do I do now
Seeing the cast of Arrow break out of their angsty brooding is always welcome (if, quite frankly, out of character considering the plot they’re pulled directly out of). But as entertaining as the laughs or novel moments may be, they’re fleeting. Fans are outright told to expect fireworks with a crossover, and while “Legends of Today” serves a larger purpose than the previous crossovers, we doubt fans were hoping the biggest payoff of seeing their heroes unite would be comedic rel
On the bright side, Renée has established herself as a competent member of the shared universe cast already, and the same can be said for her new Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) , who manages to grab a few genuine, charming laughs in his brief time on screen. Sure, the costume and flying effects may seem a little too close to Smallville ‘s style than superhero movie fans will like, but… you work with what you’re given (a flying man in a bird mask is a hard sell no matter wh
AHIII: I haven’t really put too much thought into which games to cast. I am aware that if I do want to pursue casting professionally, I’ll probably have to look at other games. There hasn’t been anything static like wanting to do BlizzCon; I would love to do BlizzCon but it’s not like once I do that, my dream is complete. I just want to continue to explore it and see where it goes. Just being here in this world and being myself, that is the dream to
The one company that could make a significant impact on all of this is of course, Valve, the game’s developer. But unlike Dota 2 , Valve has chosen to let other groups organize most of the marquee CS:GO tournaments, at least so far. If Valve were to weigh in on the matter, it would likely go a long way towards sorting out the current m
The two (former) professionals are Olzhas “Naiman” Batyrbekov and Dan “Alchemixt” Walton. The two lesser known players were only identified by their gamertags, XzaM and Damnery. While Blizzard has banned players for offenses like botting and win trading in the past, this is the first time they have publicly named the players. It seems like they’re stepping up their efforts to clean up the professional scene as Blizzcon gets clo
The same goes for League of Legends, bringing it back into the discussion, and they have shown no sign of ever stopping this practice. They release a new champion every week, some of which cost money to play, and many of which are “worth,” leaving the players who don’t have the money behind. I was this close to trying out Orcs Must Die: Unchained before I found out that it uses the League-of-Legends-style system for hero purchasing. These games are no better than the cable company. In fact, they may be worse. Imagine if every week, Comcast started a new channel with new and amazing shows, but made you pay a new fee if you wanted to experience it.
