Scars and tattoos can now be added to player avatars to further make pirates more unique, there’s a new flag system for ships, and even a brand new instrument (a drum!) needed to summon the mighty megalodon shark. But first, the quest itself! How does a pirate and their crew start The Hungering Deep’s limited time event, Merrick’s Quest ? And how do we get the drums?! Allow us to explain, in det
Of course, if you are sailing about, it’s best to do it with friends or other players in general, because playing alone is a massive chore. It wouldn’t be that bad if you had a simpler vessel to get between islands, but even the smallest ships are still clearly built around having a crew to manage the sails, map, steering, anchor, cannons and more all at one. Unsurprisingly, trying to manage all of that at once just gets frustrating quickly and will lead to more than a few crashes the first time around. Heck, even if you are with other players, the game is based around being able to easily communicate with each other, so you had best all be on the same page if none of you want to get left behind.
This has resulted in something of a backlash, causing some serious arguments over on the Sea of Thieves Reddit and even a Twitter hashtag of #NotMyPirateLegend . It’s certainly understandable why some are angry about the first Pirate Legend, particularly given the prestige of the status itself and exactly how time consuming it is to reach the rank. However, there’s something a little poetic about someone cheating their way to the top spot in a strategy game tips|https://strategyreviewer.com/ revolving around pirates – after all, the game is called Sea of Thiev
Where to go next is the most difficult riddle of The Hungering Deep. The coordinates of where to summon the shark come from everything said and read so far. The “infernal ridge” hint refers to Devil’s Ridge (U-24) and “don’t get too close to the Shroud!” refers to the border of the map, leading to the dead red sea. To find the exact map coordinates, note that the names of all of Merrick’s loves begin with “T” and note the journal numbers which add up to “26.” B
It isn’t just process of elimination, though. The other two trading companies and their quests aren’t bad, sure, with decent first-person combat, exploration and general gameplay mechanics, but it’s the treasure hunts where Sea of Thieves gets to show off the parts where the most work was put into it. You have to analyze the maps given to you, track down the location on the map, set a course there, arrive preferably without any damage to your ship. Then depending on your map, you either decipher a series of riddles and find landmarks on each island or analyze the geography of the land in order to find the spot marked by a red X, per tradition, then finally dig it up and battle the cursed skeleton horde that appears.
Part of this comes from the goal of becoming a Pirate Legend. The highest title bestowed on Sea of Thieves players, to become a Pirate Legend would-be Blackbeards have to first reach level 50 with all three of the game’s Trading Companies. From then on, a fair few extras are unlocked, and the mystery around exactly what Pirate Legends can do has driven players through the g
All in all, though, Sea of Thieves players aren’t happy about the situation. It comes at a fractious time for the game itself, after a former artist on the title suggested that the devs knew Sea of Thieves was repetitive in nature. With some asking for more from the title, should those disappointed in the Pirate Legend content (and the way that it was reached) make a big enough noise it may cause Rare to give the game some twe
The first Pirate Legend has now been found, in Twitch streamer Prod1gyX . Rather than this being a cause of celebration for Sea of Thieves players, however, this has instead been a scene of major disappointment. The streamer has been widely criticized for the way in which he has reached the rank of Pirate Legend, relying on boosting from other players to get the status rather than making it there of his own accord. Essentially, other players helped out Prod1gyX with voyages, doing the majority of the work but sharing in rewards, leaving some feeling as though the streamer is more Billy Bones than Long John Sil
On top of that, Sea of Thieves players are still seeing a delay in gold and reputation rewards and there has been some server instability noted on the forums. Not all of these issues will be fixed by this week’s patch, but Rare is hoping to get the more pressing problems ironed out. At the very least, this patch should put the game on the path towards stability and new content releases , even if some problems still pers
Head to Golden Sands Outpost and ask Tina about drunken pirates. She tells you about Merrick’s sunken ship, The Killer Whale and reveals it’s “north of that place… Idiot Island, or something. East of Double Trees.” This translate to north of Fool’s Lagoon (K-17) and east of Twin Groves (I
